Ken Gharial Sanctuary UPSC

  • Ken Gharial Sanctuary is located in the Panna and Chhatarpur Districts of Madhya Pradesh, India.
  • In 1981, It was established with the aim of conserving gharials and mugger crocodile populations.’
  • Area: It is spread over an area of approximately 45.201 square kilometers.
  • River: The sanctuary is situated at the confluence of the Ken River and the Khudar River.
  • Flora: Teak, Seja, Salai, Gunja, Flame of Forest, Khair etc.
  • Fauna: Indian Wolf, Nilgai, Dhole, Chinkara, Sloth Bear, Leopard, Gharial, Mugger Crocodile, Monitor Lizards etc.
